The Johns Hopkins University Press

Make a Gift/Become a Friend

When you make a charitable gift by joining the Friends of the Johns Hopkins University Press, you help to support the publication of distinguished books and journals by America's oldest university press.

Here are two ways to give:

  1. Download a Donor's Form (Please print and mail this form with your gift.)
  2. Make a Gift Online (Please select or type "JHU Press" in the gift designation section.)

The Friends program aims to generate financial support, visibility, and enthusiasm for the work of publishing and disseminating significant scholarship under the imprint of the Johns Hopkins University Press. As donors and book enthusiasts, the Friends of the Press help fulfill the Press's mission of publishing significant, innovative works. Members receive substantial discounts on Press books, enjoy opportunities to attend a variety of author events, and have special opportunities to learn about the art and business of publishing.

We offer a variety of opportunities for donors and volunteers to support the Press and learn more about the work of scholarly publishing:

  • Become a donor and friend, join us at events, learn more about America's oldest university press, and help spread the word about the good work of the Press
  • Sponsor a book that requires subsidy to cover special costs associated with publication
  • Underwrite a book series, journal launch, or new publishing initiative
  • Establish your own named endowment to support one of the Press's distinguished publishing programs
  • Name the Press as the beneficiary of a planned gift, either through a life income gift or a bequest. Gift annuities in particular (which provide quarterly payments, a portion of which is tax-free) offer donors a creative way to fulfill their philanthropic intentions and meet their financial needs.

Books make great gifts. Gifts make great books!
