Sirena: poesia, arte y critica

Sirena is a fully refereed journal with a complete editorial board and accepts works in the following areas:

POETRY

Poems in any language will be considered, as long as they are accompanied by translations into English and Spanish or, at least, into one of the two base languages of the journal; the editorial board will make every effort possible to procure translations into the second language. It must be kept in mind that this journal is a meeting place for poets of all languages and their translators. Consequently, we prefer poems that are accompanied by translations made by trusted translators chosen by the poet. Poems, if they are submitted through postal services, must be sent with a disk containing the original and the translations in electronic format, preferably files in TXT, WORD or WORD PERFECT-of all, TXT is preferred.

CRITICISM

Essays, unlike poems, do not need to be translated into English or Spanish, if they were not written in one of these languages. The focus of the essay can be open, as long as it reflects on poetry, translation of poetry or commentary on a particular poet or poets. We do not require a particular format, but the format will need to be internally consistent throughout. The length of the essay is not to exceed 6500 words and, in case graphics or drawings created by a different author are included, they must be accompanied by written permission to publish or reprint.

In addition, Sirena has particular interest in publishing interviews with poets and books reviews of poetry criticism or books of poetry.

ENGRAVINGS/PHOTOGRAPHS/DRAWINGS

Black and white art is preferred. The artist may submit as many samples as she/he desires. After accepting the submissions, the editor will contact the artist to determine which ones will be published.

If the artist or author wishes to submit works electronically, they must be attached to an email message, in one of the electronic formats described in the first paragraph, and sent to: sirena@dickinson.edu. If the works submitted are photographs, engravings or drawings, they must be JPEG or .tif.

Instrucciones para autores

Sirena es una revista que cuenta con un consejo editorial completo de arbitración y acepta trabajos en las siguientes áreas:

POESÍA

Se considerarán poemas en cualquier idioma, siempre y cuando vengan acompañados de traducciones al inglés y al español o, al menos, a uno de lo los dos idiomas oficiales de la revista; el grupo editorial de Sirena hará todo lo posible para producir traducciones al otro idioma. Se debe tener en cuenta que la revista es un lugar de encuentro para poetas de todas las lenguas y sus traductores, por lo tanto preferimos que los poemas vengan ya con traducciones realizadas por traductores de confianza escogidos por el poeta mismo. Los poemas, si son enviados mediante correo postal, deberán ir acompañados de un disco que contenga los originales y las traducciones en formato electrónico, preferentemente archivos en formatos TXT, WORD, o WORD PERFECT-de todos, TXT es el que se prefiere).

CRÍTICA

Los ensayos, a diferencia de los poemas, no necesitan ser traducidos al inglés o al castellano, si no están redactados en uno de estos idiomas. El enfoque de los ensayos puede ser abierto, siempre y cuando comentae un tema referido a la poesía, a la traducción de la poesía o a un poeta de elección propia. Los ensayos no necesitan responder a un formato en particular, pero sí han de presentar consistencia interna en el formato elegido. El ensayo no habrá de sobrepasar las 6500 palabras y, en caso de incluir gráficos o dibujos cuyo autor no sea el mismo del ensayo, habrán de ir acompañados de un permiso de reproducción.

Sirena tiene particular interés, además, en publicar entrevistas a poetas y reseñas de libros de poesía o de crítica poética.

GRABADOS/FOTOGRAFÍAS/DIBUJOS

Se prefieren trabajos en blanco y negro, sean grabados, dibujos o arte fotográfico. El artista podrá enviar el número de obras que desee. Después de haberse aceptado los trabajos, el editor se pondrá en contacto con el artista a fin de definir las placas que se publicarán.
